Googlers used goats to avoid air polution

At Mountain View Headquarter (California) of Google, they used to mow grass and weeds to avoid fire hazards. But putting Big mowers (that work with gasoline) pollutes the air badly also create noisy disturbance. To avoid such things Googlers rented 200 goats and spend a week to get all the work done.

Whacky and strange idea but proved to be ecological friendly. Need to be really appreciated.

Does really Google penalize for ALT spamming?
Alt attribute in the IMG tag is the place where text or content placed for search engine. It is not viewable by user but can be read by search engine. Every webmaster or SEO know how to take the advantage of “alt” attribute .

But Google doesn’t allow any spammer to take the advantage of Alt by spamming. Any one, who misuse the ALT get penalized.

  1. Do not have different ALT texts for same repeating images.
  2. Google also do not allow same ALT text for different images.
  3. ALT text should not be too longer.

How Google Penalize for ALT spamming?

Alt spamming is not a very serious issue. That’s why Google do not ban your site but can throw your page into supplement index for some time. And when Google crawls your page again after some period of time and if you have corrected the mistake your page get back to listing.

What happened to me when I did ALT spamming?

My site was on 2nd and 3rd page for couple of keywords. I wanted my site on first page. I didn’t had time do link building as it takes too much time. All what I could do was some on-site work. But the page was already well optimized. The thing I could do on the page was to increase the keyword density. But there were no place to add some more keyword so I inserted the keyword in almost all the ALT attribute. Thus my top keyword was repeating in the entire ALT attribute.

In the very next day I didn’t find my page in the Google listing. The page was nowhere for that particular keyword. I immediately corrected the mistake. And after 10 -12 days the respective page went back to 2nd page. I would suggest you never try fooling Google, you can hurt you ranking.

How to create multiple categories, displaying recent post titles under it, in Wordpress?

Wordpress is one of the most SEO friendly CMS (Content Management System) amongst all the CMS (Joomla, Drupal, and Mambo), although It’s not having as much features available in other CMS.

Every Wordpress user know how easy is to add a category. You just need to write the category name in the category text box and click “Add”. And a new category gets created. The simplest way to add category but what about if you want to customize the category.

First of all let me tell you that I am not a Wordpress expert. I had to display the recent posts under the category for some of my websites. First I thought that it’s not possible in the Wordpress. But after lot of research I found a method by which we can have multiple categories showing recent posts under it.

I have explained it in couple of steps. For local blogs follow first two steps and for live blogs follow all the five steps.

Step 1: Updating Source code.
Step 2: Assign Category.
Step 3: Upload File.
Step 4: Re-Assign Category ID.
Step 5: Re-upload files.

Step 1: Place the following code in sidebar.php file. You can also either replace it with the category code or can place it as it is. To have a clear view click the image.

In the place of category name you can write desired name for category. The number of recent posts can be limited as per your requirements. In the above example maximum number of posts are 15. To limit the number of posts, customize numberposts=”desirednumber”.

NOTE: Here category=4 is the Category ID i.e 4. We will work out this in the later part.

Step 2: Now go to Wordpress dashboard. Then categories under manage menu. Here the category that you have already created having some ID. Take the ID of the category that you want to connect to the above script and place it in category=ID say 4 then it will become category=4. Save files now you will see recent posts under the respective category.

Step 3: Upload the files. After uploading category IDs get changed automatically. Hence posts get mixed with different categories.

Step 4: To resolve the problem arises in the step 3, ( follow step 2 ) go to again dashboard > manage > categories. Take category ID and assign it in the category ID that you have in the local. Say if category 4 get changed after uploading and become 6, then in the local file assign the category ID 6 for the respective category and save files.

Step 5: Upload that particular file (sidebar.php). Now every thing will get all right, as you have done in the local.

People would be consentaneous with me, if I say “today’s one of the most rapidly increasing addiction is INTERNET”. People are getting dependent on internet for almost everything. From shopping to Selling, making friends and community, business and marketing, research and study, entertainment and fun through numbers of websites of games and social networking and also making money with numbers of ways through internet. And one of the most popular and widely used ways is “Adsense”.

Folks just want to earn some extra money. The easiest way they find is that Adsense. But Adsense’s basic requirement is content. Where you put ads if you don’t have any content? All people are not content writer and not suppose to have sense of building desirable content. Then the only thing left is that copying content and editing them, Sometimes not even editing. This gives rise to widespread of content theft or dupe content.

Blogs are easy to create and manage. And one can create numbers of blogs at free of cost. There are many blogger who do have duplicate contents in their blogs. And surprising thing is that they are even getting succeeded making a little money with such blogs. This is not only encouraging them but also to other bloggers for choosing the same way.

The most common thing in almost all the articles directories is the “Adsense”. Every article does have some Adsense ads. There are article directories where not even needed any review or moderation of any article. Articles get published instantly with some Adsense ads. And moderation of some directories so poor that they even approve duplicate content.

Some Dupe Contents with Adsense:
These three snap shots have been taken from three different websites having completely same content. And other common thing is the Adsense.




Although Search Engines are getting enough intelligent to return the original and most relevant results to the end user, duplicate contents also occupy some places in the SERPs. Thus how even duplicate content also gets some traffic that is being cashed by some folks. Adsense may or may not be responsible for dupe contents but the main culprits are such copy cats.

Google Page Rank Update Oct 2007.

Google is now on updating the algorithm of Page rank. Can’t say that it is done or still in process because the speculation of Google dance is still hot news. This is the second update in the PR toolbar in the same year. First one was happened in the month of January 2007. There are many sites that have lost the page rank from PR–1 to PR–4. Some new sites have now PR ranging from 1 to 3 but many of the old ones have lost on PR.

One of the interesting things happened in this Oct 2007 update is that the page rank of inner pages remained unchanged or increased by PR+1 to PR+3.

Thank God! Google has only updated page rank algorithm that has no effect on the google’s indexing. Means no effect in the traffic and that in turns not affecting the business.

Results of the google update: (short summary)

  • Sites with Paid links penalized.
  • Many sites pagerank has come down.
  • Web Directories are down including Yahoo Directory from 6 to 5.
  • Many bloggers who earn money by selling their space are seeing fall in their pagerank.
  • Google has made it very clear that they are against artificial links.

Possible reasons behind the falling page rank. (Predictions)

  • Most of the blog’s site and the websites those are in the network of blogs have lost the page rank.
  • It may be also due to paid link or sponsored link on your websites.
  • It could also be due to bad neighborhoods or spammers around you.
  • Many website might have been panelized having irrelevant bakclinks instead of links from the niche directories or niche websites.
  • Google do not want to let “the market of selling or purchasing links” get firmed in the Internet.
